WINE TOURS IN SPAIN WITH THE SALVELINUS TOUCH

Taste the local tapas, wine, cavas, and superb extra virgin olive oil, stroll medieval streets, or uncover the region’s ancient secrets.

Excellent mushrooms, truffles, migas del pastor, ternasco de Aragón, stews, and roasts accompanied by vegetables from the Ebro Valley’s orchard.

Undiscovered wine regions

The diverse landscapes, elevations, and soil types enable the vine’s versatility to produce robust and aromatic reds, expressive whites, and cavas.

Calatayud

Garnacha Tinta is the hallmark of this wine region located in the westernmost part of the province of Zaragoza with over 60% of the vineyards dedicated to the grape. The Mediterranean microclimate, variety of soils, and an altitude from 550 meters (1,804 ft) to 1,040 meters (3,412 ft) make Calatayud the highest wine growing region in Aragón and confer its wines with an extraordinary personality. Calatayud’s vineyards are between 35 and 50 years old and produce smooth cherry-colored, fruity, and spiced wines with the right balance between alcohol content and acidity.

Campo de Borja

Tradition and appreciation of the native Garnacha are the hallmarks of this wine region that lies at the foot of the Moncayo Massif. Campo de Borja is at the northeast of the province of Zaragoza, in the transition area between the Iberian mountain range and the Ebro Valley. The designation of origin comprises 19 wineries, family-owned institutions combined with traditional cooperatives, characterized by their Garnacha Tinta wine production methods. Out of the 5,000 hectares dedicated to Garnacha in Campo de Borja, 2,000 hectares correspond to old vines between 30 and 50 years of age. The oldest vineyards of the DO date back to 1890.

Campo de Cariñena

Campo de Cariñena, located in the heart of the Ebro Valley, combines tradition and modernity like no other wine region in the Grenache Kingdom. The Cariñena DO is the oldest and largest in Aragón, dating from 1932. This region has more Garnacha planted than any other area in Spain, and it exports more than 50% of its production worldwide. The 55 wineries that make up the Cariñena DO elaborate modern and carefully nurtured wines, thanks to a wide range of grapes and wine elaboration styles that arise in particular microclimates. Aside from the supremacy of Red Grenache for red wines and Viura for whites, minority varieties are cultivated such as Cariñena (Mazuelo), Juan Ibáñez, Vidadillo, or Monastrell for reds, and White Garnacha, Muscat of Alexandria and Parellada for whites.
