FLY CASTING & ON-WATER TECHNIQUES

A choice destination to polish your technique with legendary fly-fishing guides

STEP 01

Fly Casting

A solid foundation for fly casting, and the ability to recognize and correct your bad habits will significantly increase your success on the river. Salvelinus brings you the combination of personalized fly casting clinics and on-water applications.

STEP 02

Localization

While you might get lucky casting at any spot on the river, learning the areas that trout prefer will increase your chances of catching them. Understanding how and where to find trout is just as important as fly casting.

STEP 03

Presentation

You could easily spend a lifetime improving the art of the presentation, but it is essential to start with a solid foundation. Quickly learn how to pick a target, place a cast, throw long leaders, and properly drift the fly.

STEP 04

Hook

The hook set is the most critical part in the process of securing your fish. There is more to a solid hook set than just simply rearing back as seen on many fly fishing films. A good hook set involves patience, timing, subtlety, and some luck.

STEP 05

Catch

You will develop the habit to think about where the fish is likely to swim and what direction you should pull to guide the fish away from potential threats. Landing a fish with a net is the final part of the process.
