Pyrenees Lodges
TASTE BACK IN TIME
Back in 2005 Salvelinus put together a casual guest lodge in Arén with one of the best gastronomic experiences in the region. In 2024, a 4-room river-view lodge only for fly fishers was launched in this quaint valley. Surrounded by wilderness, both lodges present a glorious setting where a family ambiance prevails – log fires and communal dinners are complemented every night with carefully chosen wines.
Getting here
Best International Airport is Barcelona: it’s a three-hour chauffeured drive to any of the Pyrenees lodges run by Salvelinus.
Facilities
Arén lodge has eighteen rustic but comfortable bedrooms, ideal for accommodating larger parties of anglers and hunters year round. Bajo la Piedra fly fishing lodge has four spacious river-view apartments, each fully equipped with two bedrooms and a terrace. Both lodges have air conditioning and a mini bar in each room, a heated wading room, massage service, a full complement of rods, reels, waders, leaders and a selection of 10,000+ flies.
Food & Wine
There’s an intimate family-owned restaurant near both lodges, where the passion for seasonal cuisine from ancient recipes is deliciously evident. The menu features local, organic produce in traditional dishes. Every night, guests savor local cuisine paired with exquisite Spanish wines.
Fly Fishing
Each lodge has access to 7 main valleys and 30 tributaries in the highlands, mid-country, and lowlands within short drives. March offers great BWO hatches. Run-off occurs during late April and May. Mid-May to mid-October offer the best variety, dry fly action and backcountry and barbel options. Late October and November provide stable weather with excellent fall opportunities.
