Arén Lodge

SALVELINUS EAST

300 Years´ Tradition in a Fly Fishing Operation

TASTE BACK IN TIME IN THE SPANISH PYRENEES

Located in the medieval village surrounded by wilderness, the lodge presents a glorious setting for a fly fishing expedition. Its deep history includes a traditional restaurant managed by the same family for almost three centuries. Here, cozy accommodation with a family gathering feel prevails – log fires and communal dinners are complemented by an impeccable wine list carefully chosen by the sommelier. Fully equipped with all services for the avid angler to the travel companion, in the foothills of the Spanish Pyrenees.

March 1st to November 30th

Best International Airport is Barcelona: it is a two and a half hour drive  to the lodge. Lleida RENFE Rail Station is well connected via AVE high- speed trains with main cities in Spain, and it is one hour and a quarter to the lodge.

Four restored suites, two apartments, and eight single-bed or double-bed bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms are available. The venue also has a spa and wellness center equipped with a massage room, sauna, jacuzzi, and gym, as well as an in-house fly shop and heated wader room.

All meals have been served at the nearby family-owned restaurant since 1762, where the attention to culinary detail is deliciously evident. The menu features local, organic produce in traditional dishes. Every night, Salvelinus guests gather in the private wine cellar to savor the delicious local cuisine paired with exquisite Spanish wines.

Arén was a wine location in the Pyrenees centuries ago. Nowadays there are no longer vineyards or merchants for this matter, but wine culture is still clearly a passion here. The ancient cellar has an excellent wine selection from some of the best Pyrenees vineyards. Lunch and dinner are paired with genuine wines from several wine regions all over Spain.

Arén is a great location to explore a variety of water formations bound to adventure, cultural landmarks, national parks, and mountain villages. The land has a natural boundary, only accessible through the Sopeira gorge, a natural stopping point along several commercial routes over the centuries.

Part of medieval Ribagorza County, this 200-habitant village has provided a place to eat and rest for merchants and pilgrims since the 16th century.

Real People, Unique Experiences

I must mention I would go back for the food and wine alone.

Best restaurant in the Pyrenees in the same family ownership for 300 years, very good accommodation acceptable to anyone with A.C., a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival as well as access to the Sauna. The «genuine article» !!!!!! (100%) as are the surroundings, Spain as she was and should be, children playing in the village square, locals sitting «en family» discussing what might or will happen as the sun sets – there can be no better.

To highlight we were treated as kings, dining was one of the most unique culinary experiences ever. Honestly, one of the best restaurants we’ve ever tried.
