Santa Cilia

Fishing Lodge

Santa Cilia Fishing Lodge is a 500 square meter (5,382 sq ft) stone palace dating of the 10th century – a place flooded in history. Since its origins, it served as a meeting point for merchants, pilgrims, San Juan de la Peña monks, and all those who followed the course of Aragón and Ebro rivers to the east towards the Mediterranean sea. Located at the foothills of the Pyrenees – the best-preserved mountain area in Western Europe, Santa Cilia Fishing Lodge was entirely renovated in 2016 becoming a last-generation fishing lodge fully-equipped with all modern services and amenities exclusively available for Salvelinus’ anglers and their travel companions.

Travel in history with Salvelinus and unveil the origins of Santa Cilia

The splendor of the county of Aragón against Muslim rule yielded the building of San Juan de la Peña’s monastery in the 10th century.  Filled with churches and stone carvings, the place served as a burial site for the early kings of Aragón. Its glory culminated in the 10th century with the construction of a palace in Santa Cilia, which is now Salvelinus’ lodge.

Whether you are looking for outdoor activities or want to appreciate nature, Salvelinus offers a perfect spot in Western Pyrenees. The legendary origins of the place and fabulous natural scenery make of Santa Cilia an absolute must-see and one of Salvelinus’ treasures.

Those who have visited Santa Cilia tell us all about it

With less than 300 inhabitants, Santa Cilia is ideally located to explore the nearby waters, cultural landmarks, national parks, and rural villages. This picturesque region of Spain will enchant you with its medieval architecture, exciting fishing, and genuinely welcoming people.

Good local food & accommodation in monastic buildings giving a sense of history within the surroundings of a simple village and looking over a river. Ivan is very knowledgeable on "Classic" Spanish Wines and most persuasive in his serving!

This fantastic Orvis-endorsed fly fishing lodge itself is in the tiny, lovely village of Santa Cilia, directly next to the Aragon River. The lodge inside a historic medieval Monastery, the food, wine, companionship, scenery, cultural immersion, and accommodations were all “just what the doctor ordered,” for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Michael JeffcoatSouth Carolina, USA

The accommodation is spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. The food was exceptional, and the wines were first rate, all selected by Ivan the owner and were all of the highest quality. All of the staff at Salvelinus lodge Santa Cilia went out of their way to ensure that we had the best possible experience.
